2008 No Big League Team This Year (maybe in 2009?). 2007 Season Our Big League division is for league ages 16 to 18. 7/16/07 Update: Big League District 1 Baseball (16-18 year olds) - The 2007 State Tournament was held at District 2 (Virgil Stacey Memorial Complex, Olalla, WA) this past weekend (July 13th thru July 15th. We lost our first game against District 4 from Vancouver. To get to the championship series on Sunday we had to defeat District 8 and then District 7 on Saturday. We did just that! First up was beating District 8 5-3 behind the strong pitching performance (spread 7 hits with 2 earned runs, had 8 K's and only 2 BB's) of Kyle Eisen, who had to leave the game trailing only 3-2 after the maximum 105 pitches. Dan Delay relieved and got the win when we scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th. The big hit was a 2 run double by substitute right fielder DJ Rimbaugh, followed by a RBI single by Prystan (P) Viluan (10 for 14 for the tourney with 7 RBI), who was 3 for 4 in the game. Our first 2 runs came via a 2 run HR by Dan Delay, his 2nd of 2 for the tournament. Then we won a slugfest against District 7 22-17 on 18 hits led by P's 3 for 5, 6 RBI and Jordan Bartel's 2 for 5, 4 RBI including a monster 2 run shot in the 3rd inning! Kyle Eisen was 3 for 3 (plus 2 BB's) with 4 runs and 2 RBI. Taylor Perkins was 3 for 3 and Dan Delay had 3 more RBI. We used 4 pitchers to spread the pitch count. District 7 had 11 hits for their 17 runs, but drew 6 BB's. That got us into championship day on Sunday, July 15th. Oh boy, we hit the fielding skids! We fell 16-4! District 4 got 9 runs in the 2nd inning on only 4 hits, aided by 3 errors and other un-made plays. We had chances to pick off runners or nail them at home, but couldn't execute a run-down or make the play at the plate, etc., etc. We only had 6 hits and left runners at 2nd and 3rd twice (once bases loaded). It seems our boys played their hearts and bodies out on Saturday and had little left to give on Sunday. In summary, the guys gave it a good battle after 2 weeks of hard work at practice and ended up 2nd in State. Over the last 3 years, District 1 came in 2nd, 1st and 2nd! State at District 2 (Virgil Stacey Memorial Complex, Olalla, WA), Starts this Friday, July 13th. Our first game will be at 3 PM vs. District 4. 8 of our Pacific players will make up more than half the District 1 All-Star team, with 7 of those 8 being able to pitch!! Michael Ames, Dan Delay, Kyle Eisen (all 3 were on the team last year), Jordan Bartels, Dylan Hudson, Taylor Perkins, Pat Sullivan and James Walker are on the team are on this year's All-Star squad. There are also 2 players from Mukilteo and 4 from Lake Stevens. Look for Washington LL District 2 for brackets and directions to the field! If we win State, Regionals would begin for us at 4 PM on Thursday, July 19th vs. Arizona at Kitsap Fairgrounds & Events Center. The main baseball field there is like a small minor league field! Again watch for more information and directions in District 2's website. The bubble finally burst Thursday, June 21st due to a bad bounce and a sun-aided double! Richmond pitched as well as we did and prevailed 4-3. We bounced back with wins of 13-3 and 7-1 over Magnolia in most of our last games ever at Edmonds-Woodway HS and defeated Redmond 24-4 on Tuesday, June 26th at Medowdale HS. We are now 18 and 1. We have outscored our opponents 203-51. Our team batting average is .438 and we have an on-base percentage of .555! We have also used 12 different pitchers! Michael Ames is 6 and 0. Kyle Eisen is 5 and 0. These 2 will be the starters on Sunday, July 1st at Meadowdale HS at Noon and 3 PM. See below. Derek Hansen is 3 and 1 with a Save. We have home games at Meadowdale HS at 6 PM on Tuesday (June 26th) and a season-ending double-header against Lake Stevens at Noon and Mukilteo at 3 PM. We are Inter-Leaguing (Inter-Districting really) with teams from District, 7, 8 and 9. That means our boys will get to play games all over King County this year, in such places as West Seattle, Richmond Beach, Redmond, Green Lake, Rainier and Magnolia! The beauty of this division is that it doesn't start until mid-May (Sunday, May 13th this year), after the high school baseball season. Games (Tuesdays, Thursdays and double-headers on Sundays) are played until early August with an All-District All-Star team in the middle of the season, and a season-ending district tournament. This historical arrangement looks to be changing this year. More to follow! The cost of the Big League is also quite reasonable for everyone ($200 again this year). There are many select teams out there for this age group which are much more costly. We must have 18 players on the roster at all times. We had 18 on the roster last year: Michael Ames, Casey Anderson, Jordan Bartels, Andy Bennett, Alex Bird, Charlie Chung, Derek Coates, Dan Delay, Kyle Eisen, Zach Freimark, Dylan Hudson, Kramer McDonald, Ben Newton, Taylor Perkins, Dayne Richards, Jordan Scott, Eddie Smith, and Sam Wells. This year we have Michael Ames, Jordan Bartels, Charlie Chung, Dan Delay, Kyle Eisen, Jamie Fawcett, Derek Hansen, Jordan Hopper, Dylan Hudson, Micah Lester, Nick McNaughton, David Mendez, Taylor Perkins, Dayne Richards, Jordan Scott, Pat Sullivan, James Walker, and Connor Wildey. Half the team returned from last year. Games are played in King and Snohomish Counties, and use the local high school fields for our home games (Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale this year). Teams from West Seattle, Magnolia, Queen Anne, RUG, NE Seattle, Richmond, Redmond, Rainier, Mukilteo, Lake Stevens and Pacific are playing this year thru July 1st. The Big League State Tournament begins Friday, July 13th at District 2's facility in Olalla, WA For more information about Big League, please call our message line at 425-778-0848, option 4, leave a message and we'll call you back.
